Continence Assistance
A continence assessment is a comprehensive review of bladder and bowel function that identifies continence concerns, contributing factors and practical strategies to support daily living and wellbeing. We provide professional, person-centred and evidence-based continence assessments for older adults and people living with disability, delivered with respect, dignity and discretion.
What does the Assessment Cover?
Bladder & Bowel Health: Assessment of toileting routines, bladder and bowel symptoms, and the impact of fluid intake and diet on continence.
Environment Review:
Review of bathroom access, safety, lighting and equipment to support safe and effective toileting.
Health & Medical Factors: Consideration of relevant medical conditions, medications, and cognitive or sensory factors that may affect continence.
Continence Products:
Review of current continence aids with recommendations on appropriate products, fit and correct use.
Function Ability:
Evaluation of mobility, transfers, and the ability to access, use and manage toileting independently.
Education & Support:
Ongoing advice for participants, families and support staff as continence needs change.
